I usually stick to strictly photos with my posts, but I couldn't post these without saying a little something first.
In 2009 I packed up my belongings and moved to the west coast. I made Tacoma my home and fell in love with so much in that city, and in the Pacific Northwest in general. Almost a year ago my heart started changing and I felt a pull to come back to Minneapolis, so I packed up once again and made the trip back to this city. Last night Minneapolis proved itself to me for the one hundredth/thousandth/millionth time as a massive community of people flooded to a loft in Whittier to show its support to a great friend of ours that was on the losing end of a hit and run a month ago. ('Losing end' is a relative statement. Matt's optimism and class in the past month has been inspiring to say the least. It's hard to call that 'losing'.)
My photos below are of the amazing musicians that immediately said "YES! Anything I can do to help!" when I asked them if they'd play this benefit. The music community here in Minneapolis is second-to-none and I'm beyond lucky and ecstatic to be living in this city with all of these beautiful souls again.
